Moved up to the MPC for the sequencer and polyphony but its a fantastic tool and I miss some of the features like the filter sweeps and realtime tweaking of samples.

I got an ES1 as my first sampler about 2 years ago and still use it as an effects unit and to trigger some samples.

I've got one I'm trying to get rid of pretty soon. It's a great unit for quick jotting but for serious simple, precise sequencing I love the MPCs.
The best place to learn about the ES-1 (and the rest of the Electribe series) is the yahoogroups board, link here:

Try picking up an RC battery and charger, you can make it totally portable.
I wrote up directions for attaching the battery on the list, do a search for ES-1, battery, and maybe goddamnbastard2001, my name on Yahoo.

nice box...i have two of them...you can get very pleasable results quite fast with that. just doing an entire professional track isnt easy (no single outs etc)...
Its a fun machine, but not very deep and pro, compared to the MPC.
