Akai S-1000/1100/2800/3000 samplers

I'm trying to get one of these samplers, but I need to know if they can take internal Hard-drives. I know the 1000/1100 can, but I'm not sure if s-2000+ samplers have an internal ide/scsi connection. I plan on using it to store samples, and since they all have a 32 meg capacity, I really don't care which one I get, but the internal HD is kinda important.. I have too many external cd's & hardrives and I don't want any more clutter in the room.

Also, is the sample assignment the same with these samplers like the mpc's?

Damn I dont think any of these samplers have internal hard drives, I know the s1100 can format an external SCSI drive. (I just sold a maxed out one on eBay for $320.00).

In regards to assigning samples, its a little more complex, but hit me on the PM when you get one and I can help you with the s3000/s1100 setup.

And keep your eyes peeled for the s3200XL, its got the works.

I was also looking at the E-MU 6000 ulta, but too many reviews said it softened up samples, and may not be to suitable for drums. How does the 3200XL sound? I was reasding some good reviews about the s1000/1100 so that's why I was leaning towards those. Ohh well, I got outbid on ebay (ended at 1am, and I couldn't stay up that late to watch it) so I'm still looking. I'll do some research on the net, and if I see the 3200, I'll try and grab it .. as long as people don't get crazy with the bidding.

Yes! S1000 HD, it comes out with 40 Mo internal hard drive.

someone just listed it, and I snagged it right away. The buy it now price was $200! It's the s-1000HD. kilowax, what's the largest hard-drive that it can handle? 40 megs ain't gonna get it, I plan on sampling the drums from all my partners keyboards

I know you can find a 80 Mo in internal hard-disk, but you can upgrade your unit with a IB-103 board's a SCSI interface allow you to switch a 512Mo extrenal HD or a 250 Mo external Zip.
You could get also the IB-104 num. interface that allow you to sample at 32, 44, 48Khz!!
Just for information, know that the S1100 is the fisrt Akai unit that rec. straigth to the HD.

It's got the scsi already, but I didn't know about the other board. I though the only other upgrade was the digital I/O, but you got me geeked about the different sample modes. I'm gonna check on that right now.. I just wish I had a hookup on the ram, cus that special akai format costs some bux.. over $200 for the 32 meg upgrade.. damn!
