HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND FOR RECORDS?

I'm personally a cheap guy, I always stay in the dollar bins but it doesn't really pay off because I end up with alot of garbage. I'm going to spend a little more to see if I get better results. How much do you cats spend on vinyl?

Luckily between my moms, my dad, and my sister (She's a whole generation different than me), they have about a good 600 records here at the crib......... my manz was gonna sell about 200 of them for $50 (of course, i was gonna try to talk him down, cuz i prolly wouldn't have spent over $30), but my mans Blaz4me hooked me up wit bout 20 or 30 for free (GOOD LOOKZ!!), so I guess they vary.... really depends on quality of the song, as well as the quality of the record.... i mean if it's a whack ass album, u're gonna spend less, if it's all scratched, up you're gonna spend less.......

I usually spend from $8 to $20 on lp's or compilations (bad word for serious diggers). Mine are bought new so I get good sound-quality samples. I still hit up family members ( I got my uncle for a GRIP of records), flea markets, and the daily paper for people wanting to get rid of the old useless lp's. But little do they know ...

Seriously, it doesn't matter how much money it costs. It matters what's on the record. Dollar bins are great, but you have to find the RIGHT $1 records.
You could spend $40 bucks on a rare funk record with no good open samples on it (even though it might be great to listen to.)
You could spend $2 dollars on a record that's terrible to listen to, but that has a few great samples on it.

It's all trial and error, no matter what the record cost.
The good thing about the dollar bin is if it's an error, it's only a $1 error.

the most i'll spend on a record is 10.99 but i stay up in the dollar bins and buying used records from everywhere for like 3 a pop. anyone got those cartoon breaks and video game breaks?? them joints is off the hook alot to chop and loop if you wanna keep it simple.

Or if you are a real digger payin his dues....you can find your own spot that only YOU know about thats loaded with gems........for real cheap. I got a spot over here in the 714 where I found an original copy(still in the plastic) of David Axelrod's "Songs of innocence" for a dollar! Diggin isnt only about finding the gem....its about finding where the gems are!!! For all you cats that think all the spots are tapped out....your wrong!!! I live in L.A. and everybody is diggin out here!! But there are still those untapped resources that nobody knows about! Belie' dat!!! ONE!!!!

i look thru dollar bins, but lately there just as not been anything of interest.
nothing at all. if any lives in the houston area tell me some new places to go.

i live in the boonies (sw colorado) but i still find things that are great and for a dollar. cti label records for a buck in great shape, tons of 45's, jb's, it never ceases to amaze me what i will find in the bins at the one store in my town that has wax. thrift stores are the real treasure chests, it takes more time as usually the records aren't sorted but you can find a lot of good samples for a nickel or a quarter. as for finding david axelrod in the original plastic for a dollar that just gets me excited to go dig. i bought a reissue of that record just so i could have a listening copy. i would love to stumble upon a spot like that! if i am going to spend more than five bucks on a record it has to something special or brand new. I never buy records off of ebay anymore, unless you buy a lot of 50 or whatever you are going to overpay. there are just too many people on there trying to get the same things. if i go to the city i don't go to the trendy or hip-hop record stores i go to the wierd little bookshop/record store places that sell coffee or whatever. you gotta search for the right places to dig. and for a buck take a chance. you know that the jb's are going to be dope but look for the suprises. it is no ancient secret but look at the instrument credits if you want trumpets look for trumpets, if you want moogs look for moogs(duh!) don't forget the rhodes organs. find labels you like. and if it has anyone w/ a fro on the cover you better just buy that ish. my beatmaking views boil down to this: you are only going to get beats to sound as good as the samples you find. one final thing don't over look orchestral records thinking that is some b.s. that gramma listened to because you will find tons of flutes, bells, cello, piano, whatever and these records can be found en masse at the thrift shops. open your eyes!

Here in detroit, there are places you can get wax for 25 cents.. a buc is getting up there (for me) although I have spent the occasional 3 bux for em once in a while (if it's really something I need)

Any where from fifty cents to eight dollars. I mostly shop at the flea market that's where you can find the gems for the dirty! oR i'll ask people I meet on the street. Nobody is off limits for me. I'm looking for some early JB's I want a copy of the "Funky Drummer"

i buy crazy shitt that no one thinks they can sample off..i usally get 10 records for 2 bux i usally cop like 10 bux worth.so thats 50 records.ill sumtimes buy some shit for like 11 bux when i its hot,like james brown,isac hayes stuf like that...it all depends.

I spent over $100 last weekend diggin at some spots in new hampshire...
