Phatmatik Pro??

At least I think that's what it's called. Have any of you guys used this? Supposed to be in compe with Recycle. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Recylce and all, but I don't like the sound of the stretch function. Sounds too artificial.

Anyway, give me a heads up on what it's all about. One.

Yea that program is Ill - Ive messed with it abit....LFO...Filters ..Bit Crunchin the.....

Its a plug in tho so it aint much good to me....If that was standalone recycle would probably be in the corner right now.

Dont get me wrong if you can be bothered you can load up Logic or watever and do all the work in the then transfer it into recycle but I cant be bothered

But can you use it to chop your drums just like Recycle, or is it just for changing the sound, tempo, key of loops?

Its slices up too. Its like a more advanced program to Recycle...The processing options are alot more advance......Pitching breaks without losing tempo works well too. Its a good program but I haven't used it enuff to give u a full run down

Good looks though.

I used it for a while, but i went back to Recycle after a while. Phatmatic has more functions to mangle your loop though. And if you're not a cubase or nuendo user, you can drag/drop the midi file directly into your sequencer.
I prefer the big screen in recycle, and it's also easier to set start/end points in Recycle.
I think phatmatic is more suited to loops that you''ll find on sample cd's, that are already looped and stuff, in combination with a software sequencer.
I sample from vinyl into wavelab, and then use Recycle to set the looppoints and chop stuff up and run it into my mpc. If you work this way too you'll probably be better of with recycle.
Both programs have demo's though, so you can try for yourself.

So you're saying that it does basically the same thing as Recycle?? Cuts the loop up, creates a midi file so then all you have to do is create a program with the hits and load up the midi file and you're good, right?

Or does the midi file drag/drop work in programs like Acid, Live, etc???

Yeahyeah. it does the same thing as Recycle. but instead of exporting the samples and making pgm., putting it on a zip with the midifile etc., you can just pull the midifile onto your sequencers arrange page.
I'm not an acid user (the program:) but i think it works in all other sequencers that works with vst's. Steinberg refuses to make Phatmatic work in Cubase because they also sell Recycle, makes sense.
Also the beatdetection is a bit better in phatmatic to be honest.

@BRAVO: If you use a host like Chainer or Forte Solo you can run it as standalone.

On that note has anyone tried Intact yet? It sounds like it could be even better than Phatmatic.
