are the bongo's that heatmakerz/jblaze/kwest and everyone else that uses them

straight up bongos? because i have about 200 and they all sound dull.

i guess what i mean to ask are they layering those drums with any other sounds? the sounds i have sound like dance around night in zimbabwe lol

Yeah it boils down to what kind of effects you use and how you tune/pitch them. And keep in mind you're refering to mixed down and mastered material.

i try many things to spice up the drums and it just sounds like african tinkerbell type shit.

i guess ill just have to experiment a little more

I dont think that major producers have the access to perfect bongos, but they do have access to expensive boards and compressors. It just that they have engineers and know have to get that perfect sound. Maybe you need to sample some bongos and compress them and re-eq them with plugins or run em through a pre-amp. Studio magic adds alot to a track. Good luck finding the perfect bongo.
