Pro tools, pro tools, pro tools...

Ok, I've read every post here, i've read every website with the with any relation to sync. I've done it all, I know i'm doing everything right, but trying to sync my MPC2000xl to my Mac running Pro Tools with DIGI001 via midi has been a nightmare.

It syncs but it's not perfect.

Anyone using this setup please try to record a sync'ed signal from the MPC to Pro Tools twice!!! Please tell me your results. I find that it's not bang on, there are phase problems as both audio signals do not play back exactly in sync.
When you're trying to rip a beat apart to mix in Pro Tools this just doesn't cut it. Your beat loses that sweet sweet MPC feel. Ok you can nudge the tracks back together, but come on this is bullsh>t. Surely there's a way to get this perfect. Please help, i'll stick midi cables up my a s s if it'll save me these hours of pain.

I use the 4000 with protools and have never had a problem. I use smpte with a 30 second start time and a frame rate of 30. I use protools as the master

i've never had a sync problem either that was the fault of my 1000/or 2000. the only trouble i did have was when my motif was also spitting out clock and i didn't realize it. then my mpc seemed to have a mind of it's own. i find that if anything in my setup is sending sync besides protools then i have probs. hope it helps

hey matey, you need to be more specific.

as far as tracking to pro tools, i feel it does take away from the mpc feel.

Average - Do you think the same settings you use for Pro Tools will work for Cubase SX?

I setup the MPC as the master when I track to PT. Here's a couple of links to threads that might help you. The first explains how to set the MPC as the master and the second shows the more common(and probably more convinient way) of PT as the master.

Nice one for the help people,
Along with syncing via 'beat clock' i've resorted to putting one sequence of eight kicks on the start and end of each track to pro tools and nudging each track into place afterwards.
This works well but i tend to keep the beats together (ie don't seperate kick snare hats etc). Keeps the MPC feel in the beats at least.

I wish I could say yes, but I've never used cubase. Try it though, the concept should be the same
