bass guitar

ive been looking for ways to get better basslines, and i have a friend that is selling his old bass guitar for very cheap. Would this be practical to use with a 2000xl? and also how would I "hook it up" with the mpc?

u can buy it and sample from it.......I have tried mine straight into the mp but it turned out to low, so I run it thru my mixer for gain

I multitrack mine. Either through my Fostex MR-8, or Acid 4.0. With most multitracks they have a pre-amp for guitars and basses. If usin a pc you need an amp or a direct box.

get a bass pod- ok a little pricey but you be able to dial in many many different sounds......i want one...

But you can't play with the music. You need a way to record it with the music on one and the bass on two. I guess you could sample it, but you would have to start out with the bass then build the sequence around it. I like to add my bass towards middle of when I'm workin on a beat. I multitrack it then sample it back into the MPC.

you can plug your bass directly into the mpc, but you get a really FLAT sounding bass note. it will knock, but there is no range in frequencies. i started doing that, but the sound is too crappy.

you can mic a bass amp, where the tone will be beautiful because you can control lows mids and highs of the bass tone, but then you need a decent room to record it in. my room sucks personally

honestly, if someone has a better way of sampling a bass guitar with a full clean tone other than what i suggested i really want to know because i love playing the bass and id love to incorporate it more into my beats, i just want better results.

Record it into your multitrack through an amp?

I use my amp to adjust bass treble mids then send it through the headphone out into the multitrack. Then I just replay with a loop of the project already recorded in the multitrack and than sample with my MPC. I sometimes just plug right into my multitrack and record with the effects and amp simulation on it.

You could always buy a cheap metronome and set it to the tempo of the beat you created. Then just sample the bass into the MPC while playing along to that tempo on the metronome. The bass will be in time. It's certainly not the same as playing along with the actual drum track, but it is a viable workaround.

i want a new mixer so bad right now!!!
mine is cheap but it does the trick as far as just amping the sound.

if i could get one with a dope eq, plug the bass through the mixer, eq the tone, play along with the track w/ a metronome or through cool edit playback, then zone and chop the bass!!!

8 track. I have this and it is tight. I record to it, scratches, basslines, guitars, then I resample it to mpc (i give like a bar of space before I record and let it loop in the multitrack while recording the pharse, so when I chop it, it will be dead on. or get a studio mixer.
