Anybody got any good tips for gettin a snare to hit real hard... What I mean is if u listen to a lot of downtempo hip-hop they get their snares to have more of the stick sound in the snare come out first... It kinda makes the snare hit hard and then just fade into the mix with the acoustic sound of the snare following after... I've listened to the original breaks that those producers sampled and they don't have quite that hit to the snare usually... I've heard it said that Compression can get that stick sound of the snare come out more, but I can never get it to come out quite right... Any tips on like layering the snares to get that effect... A good example of this kind of snare is, I would say, RJD2... Any help whether from experience or just some ideas you think would work... I'm lost so anything would be appreciated.

Also try layering and go record yourself whackin stuff with a stick or sumthin and layer that shit. Just play it at a little lower velocity
