Recording volumes - Proper volumes when recording...

Couple questions...

When recording my volumes from the Triton and MPC into my sequencer on the computer...
should i make sure the levels are as high as they can be without going into the red, and then adjust the volumes after when mixing down?

Whats the best possible level for getting a good mix in there.

Also,
I have my MPC and Triton hooked up to a Behringer 8 channel mixer just so i can hear the sounds when using Midi, i record from that mixer into the sequencer.
Just i keep the Treble, Middle, and Bass on the EQ on the mixer all dead center when sending the sound to the sequencer?

i find that keepin all volume  levels at 7 is agood level,that way if you need to adjust the level you can adjust it from the mixer or the instrument.[/color]
