Sampling technique

I was wondering what all of your techniques are when it comes to sampling.  I'm kinda new at this, so I was just wondering your techniques, tips and how to do them.  Right now I just get a sample..change it up a bit and that's it.[/color]

You need to drop the attitude like a bad habit son...When you say[what all of your techniques are when it comes to sampling] you need to be more precise.
Capturing the sample itself is in essence the easy part, its what you then do with it that is important.  Have you read your manual, read the tutorials on this website?[/color]

Sampling can be easy. It depends on what you sample. A voice, scratch,beat or sound effect.  Usually u want to sample a beat that has no vocals on it, like the breakbeat or "bridge" part of a song. Sample this then loop it. Then u wanna add the dressing. The way I do it is I highlight all of the drum sounds in the sample with some harder hitting sounds. Basically it's like overlaying your MPC drums over the sample and it Bangs like a Mutha. The sample has to loop though so when you mute the sample your drums can ride, and vice-verse. Then add the spices like strings, horns bassline and etc.[/color]

Hey , " Prodeucer " Aurelius is right , take it down a notch.
We dont really even know what you meant.
Have a smoke or something son and let your blood pressure drop.
I can't speak for everybody but my methods are different depending on what I'm sampling.
For instance , I NEVER sample beats.
I sample the kicks and snares though.
Then I make my own beat.
After that I just sample mad stuff ,organs , strings , guitars , harmonicas and even windmills.
I usually dont ever just play em straight out though.
I remake , reform ,like most of the people on here.
If I wasnt doing that , then I might as well just use my little Yamaha su200 or even a cheap Roland Dr Sample!
Yeah , I take a lot of sounds and get live with em.
Most of the time I 16em , maybe change tuning , blah , blah , blah , but we cant really help you if we dont know what YOU want to know EXACTLY.[/color]

Everybody is going to have different techniques. You really just need to start playing with your MPC and find out what works best for you. For me every situation is different, it just depends on what kind of mood or feeling I'm trying to creat. Sometimes I just loop drums, sometimes I chop the loops and program the drums, sometimes both.

On a basic level everyone is going to have the same technique; capture samples and sequence them. Outside of that is where your creativity comes into play. How will you alter sounds, or how will you creatively sequence your sounds, etc…Just have fun and stop worrying about how Premo chops his pianos, or how Shadow programs his drums and create your own techniques.
