Forum dedicated to the new portable standalone MPC, the MPC Sample.

Hi everyone, I'm starting this thread to get your sincere help. I own an MPC Live 2 and I also have the LoFi 12 XT in my setup. I'm considering selling my LoFi 12 XT to upgrade to the new MPC Sample. Any advice? Should I sell the LoFi 12 XT to upgrade to the new little MPC Sample, or should I keep the LoFi since I already have the Live 2? Thanks for the space, and I hope many of you will read this.

I think most honest people will say "I don't know what's right for you"...

It'd help to add some thoughts on your own experience with the Live and the Lofi 12 XT, what you're trying to do, what your workflow looks like... what do you think you want out of the MPC Sample?

Broadly... if you want a workflow that goes from MPC Sample -> MPC Live... hopefully once a few firmware releases drop this will be a smooth experience... but at the moment it is in the *barely passable* space. The Sample let's you take a miniature MPC workflow to the couch, for a cafe trip... it gets you outside and is about 1/6th the size of the MPC Live... if that is valuable to you... it might make sense.

On the flip side, the MPC Live is quite portable... though if you've got an OG one you might just need to replace the battery if it isn't holding much of a charge. I don't have a Lofi myself... but could imagine it's likely to bring different sonic tones and workflows to your process. If you value that or not though... I couldn't say... and I don't have any experience with it to have an opinion myself.

Lo-Fi XT has an 8 track sequencer.
MPC Sample does not, 1 track.

This will be your biggest change to deal with/consider.

Thanks for the reply, let's say that my doubts about buying the new little MPC Sample are due to the fact that I'm afraid it's the same machine, ok smaller, ok more portable but as a workflow where do you recommend that the two Akai ones could make sense??? My workflow is very varied but usually I start making my beats with the Live 2 and then I bring it to my Mac for mixing and mastering, sometimes I use my SP 404 MKII as an effects machine and other times I create the beats with my Lofi 12 XT to export everything to the Mac... so tell me your opinion because I need it... do you think that MPC Live 2 owners don't need to spend money on the new MPC Sample??? Or are the two machines different and were created to complement each other????

Hi, thanks for the reply... have you worked with the LoFi 12 XT? What do you think? If you have the Live 2, would you sell the LoFi 12 XT to get the new MPC Sample? Help me out by telling me more... thanks

Once I've messed with lofi12xt, it wasn't for me. Personally, I'd rather have MPC Sample, but, that's just me, you gotta do what you feel, for you.
