Not picking up audio via USB C

Anyone else finding when they try and record a sample off usb c, they are met with the “waiting for input” wheel and having the Sample never pick up any audio to record?

I tried my iPad, MacBook, and iPhone. Turns out I really am a natural blonde because I neglected to tell either of those devices that the MPC sample is an output source.

I would really hope in the future they enable sampling from usb-c synths and processors (like my Ableton move)
