Threshold settings

Good morning samplers, first time mpc user, and i have the mpc starter kit the sample lol
My question is, what is the best setting for the threshold when recording instruments, guitar for example.
2. Also is there a way to have recording a sample begin as soon as i strum without triggering a pad?

The threshold setting lets sampling start automatically when an input signal is detected. Try setting it around -60 to -70 dB as a starting point. Then adjust it so the icon in the top right of the Sample Record screen lights up right when you strum.
