Captain Murphy Vs Nym - The Beats and The Poll

Ok folks here we have a sample-based beat battle between Captain Murphy and Nym.

Each used their own choice of sample for this one.

Captain Murphy wins this beat battle with BANG

Almost too close to call! Nym was right about it being obvious which is his, since a lot of us are familiar w/ his sound.

Bang-- The mix has a bigger sound overall. Some incredible sounds, honestly I would love a breakdown of the sound sources at some point. Dilla-ish drums people will dig. A couple of the notes seemed to clash at certain points.

Piranha-- Sexy main sample. Drums are super-refined. Instrument layering is impressively precise! At one point the beat is kind of hurting when the main sample cuts out. Other than that, dope! Keeper.

Haha, it looked like each of them voted for themselves in the beginning. Anywho:

I voted for Bang because it was much more exciting. There was adlibs haha, like little hype men in the beat (Dibiase and Blonco do this a LOT) is that cheating, lol? And yo, the beats are out of order. That might've been deliberate, but that's confusing!

I'd have to agree with you about the beats being out of order thing its confusing at first, unless you look on the zshare page it says in the upper left hand corner that says the names, yo clint is it possible to fix that??

No, I live in LA, echo park to be exact, I havent updated my profile since I first joined back in '06 thats why it says maryland, although i am here in MD visiting my folks so I guess its not completely wrong. I haven't been on myspace in over a year... I thought that shit was sorta played out, no?? The pause police are coming next for nym's beat!! j/k people, for what it's worth I think he did a pretty good job, its mos def not my steez in the least.

Having the poll go Bang then Piranha but the links going Piranha then bang is likely to cause confusion and get people to post for the wrong track!


Personally i though Piranha sounded a lot more polished so that's where my vote is going. Even if many people on here will be able to work out which beat is by who people should try and avoid posting their deductions of such (yes I'm looking at you Doglamp.)

here is my break down..

bang got my Vote Today... But Pirahna would get my vote tomorrow.

Both were Mixed well (On my PC speaks) and I enjoyed both. They were waay too different to say one was better than the other.

Pirahna was smooth as shit and very relaxing, the drums were subtle and very supportive of the feel I THINK the creator was going for. Very Nice Work. This is def something the Older me enjoys alot. As stated it fell asleep at one point, but it was still great.

Bang was the Polar opposite.. Drums hit hard and the overall feel of the song was very Hip Hop, the vocal samples were a perfect touch for added puch. The switchup was a very nice touch. Very energetic and that is what I need to heatr today while I was taking a break from cleaning house.


I voted for Bang on this one, but either one could have gotten the vote. This is a case of 2 diif styles being compared and the votes will reflect the mood of the listeners IMHO. I think there should be a Draw choice.... Even Fights can end in a Draw. this one is a close call and I had to let my emotions right now decide.

Pshh, I will post my deductions, but uhh you guys don't have to believe them. Maybe the battle should have made the completely anonymous, where we don't even know who the participants are.
