what the heck is wrong with this beat, i cant figure it out

my buddy did this on his TRITON, years ago, and i was going through my files and played it again. i though at the time something was wrong with it, but in my earlier years i couldn't figure it out, and still cant.

i remember he did everything in real time, and it sounds like its like 1 beat off from a normal loop, but yet it loops anywyas, it flows, but it sounds kinky. so whats wrong with it?

samples not used right, still sounds aiight, but they just arent in the right sequence to fit the drums i reckon. needs a different bassline.... bout all i can come up with

the sample chop needs to be tonic.

like start with c and end with g type tonic. No the samples dont have to be in key of c......and g.....but that same relation ship from when you play g to c, it feels finished.

id like to get the orignal samples and make it work myself, and play around with it. but he never told me where he got it from
