Toshiba MK1032GAX 100GB HD

I just got mine today and it's working great! Any 2500 user that doesnt have an HD yet and needs one should definetly look into this link. $106.00 with shipping for new 100GB HD! I think they have a few left... Peace.

yeah, that's the one that i have for my 1000. i've had it for a while.

sparq, you must have tons of audio recorded on that drive by now. how much free space do you have left?

I have a different brand same size. I still have 70GB left and I have a lot of PGM files and samples.

I def need one of those

sparq, you must have tons of audio recorded on that drive by now. how much free space do you have left?

it's funny you ask that. i have one of them that i use just for sampling full vinyl songs on. i can put around 2000 full songs on that drive... it's bananas. then i switch it out and put the other one (same size) for all my pgm, prj, chopped samples and seqs on. i have about 65gigs left on that one and on the first one, i have about 20gigs left.

Does that make sense? I mean how do you access your sampled songs if you have to have another drive in to save your projects to? And I assume you switch the MPC off to change drives

when i want to chop a sample from the hard drive that i have the full songs on. i would do that and save my chops in a new pgm and the save them on the CF card. and when i'm ready to make a beat, i switch hard drives and load from from the CF card. yes i turn it off to change drives. i don't do this in the middle of making beats. it's all preparation. when i'm working on beats i have the hard drive that has all my samples, seqs, pgms, etc. in the MPC.

i do this so i don't have to always have records laying around or if i'm traveling, i'll have all my vinyl with me on 1 hard drive.

I see. So it's more like an archive drive...

Sparq - back when you first bought your 100gb, I kept in mind that you mentioned recording full albums to chop up. Since I upgraded to the 80gb Seagate, I've been meaning to do the same with my vinyl as well as anything and everything I can sample. I would've filled that old 6gb Travelstar if I had done that. That noisy old drive had to go. It's good to be able to record everything I want, take the mpc with me and make complete tracks with it utilizing everything inside the machine. Better yet, the DSI Evolver goes extremely well with the 1k and fits comfortably inside the same bag. I can wreck shop anywhere with these two little tanks. I got ideas I been meaning to get on with this combo. I gotta make time for that after I refamiliarize myself with the S2000 (and finish reading that 226 page manual before I ask stupid questions in the 2k forum )

just bought and mounted the Toshiba100giga, it works ok atm
yeah cool to have so much space

i never really considered getting a HD but that's a good idea.... to sample everything to that drive, then work on it out the road.

yes yes im happy about it, now i just would add that fu.ckin expensive internal cd...imo akai should sell it cheaper tho!

That's a good look. I just bought one online. I paid about $8 more than you did but, I was prepared to pay about the same amount for an 80 gig. I just bought a MPC2500 yesterday. It's being shipped to me. I should get them both around the same time. I'm excited. Thanks.
