Crackling Sound

Could someone help me with this one?

Lately I have noticed when I sample from wax or a cd, the sample sounds clear at first. This also counts for every file I've uploaded for a new beat.
But after a few minutes, every sound seems to have a nibbling squeaky sound in it, like someone crushing a bag of chips. When I save the new program, shut the MPC down and reload the program, everyhing sounds cool at first. But after a while, the squeaky/cracking sound comes back. And beats I've made in the past, dont'have this problem at all when I upload them.

Has anyone experienced such a thing before and how can I fix this?

does it seem like maybe a problem with one of your outputs? when you wiggle the cord can you hear the noise? weird problem...

Naah, I don't think it's a cable/output problem.
Cause when you look at the wavefiles, you can actually see the distortion.
The sample can be as clean a white toiletpaper at first, after a while a
sh!tty distortion gets added. Really don't have a clue what causes the problem.

Perhaps it's a RAM problem. Maybe it can't keep files for a longer period of time with good sound quality.
But if it would have been RAM, then your earlier beats would sound distorted too...

I used to get this problem on my old XL randomly at times. Sound would be fine, and later it would all of a sudden get crackly or distorted. Problem was the RAM. Putting in different chips solved the problem.

I have a similar problem. Some days it doesn't happen at all but when it does its usually a while after it warms up. I'm pretty sure its the ram but haven't bothered to replace it yet as I mostly use it to sequence my s6000. My floppy is on the way out so i'll do the ram when i swap over to mcd and let you know how it goes....

Yep. It also occures with the headphones on.

try cleaning the ram connections and make sure it is seated properly before buying new sticks, if that doesn't fix the problem new ram is dirt cheap these days, it is almost certainly a ram or software problem.

i took out memory and sprayed some air in there and popped back in the memory. So far so good...no cracks. Been using it for a couple hrs. Hopefully it stays that way

I had the same problem a while back. I replaced the RAM, viola, problem solved!

Nope, I didn't have time yet. I'll try to clean the cards this week to see if that solves the problem.
Stupid question maybe, but what do these RAM cards look like? I have never opened my MPC before. Last thing I wanna do is mess up my MPC.

By the way, don't forget to ground yourself before you touch the inside of your machine, maybe you have a wrist strap in your home or something like that. The last thing you want to do is to damage RAM or anything else inside mpc.
