Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Just asking because I found an s3000xl for $200.
I have the 2000xl but with no 8 outs and no effects.
The 3000xl has effects and 8 outs.
Are these the same as what I need for the mpc?
I'm pretty sure the ones from a s2000 would work but I just wasnt sure on this one and I didnt wanna buy it and then it wasnt right because I wont get a refund.
Also , if anyone could , please list what other machines I could pull the 8 outs and effects from.
Thanks.
Please , no guesses.
I could do that myself.
There's money on the line so I need to hear from someone that KNOWS and I need the info quick because if I sleep this thing is gone today.

Check this recent thread about a similar question:

http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=17486

I know the s2000 board works but is a lightly larger shape than the MPC board & you need to cut a metal plate in the MPC.

However..... I borrowed an S3000xl for a while. I am pretty sure the 8 outs came as standard on it ( part of what earned it the xl in its name ) so they might not be on a separate, removable board ???

Also, the S3000xl is such a great sampler you would be mad to pass one up this cheap. When I had one I did all my sampling & trimming on that & just transfered what I needed to the MPC on floppies & zips.

yeah i would get the s3000xl and use that with the mpc. Also get an adaptec SCSI card for ur PC and get MESA (at www.akaipro.com) or Milleium from chicken systems to control it. That shi* is bad ass then. I just started using my s2000 with my XL again and im lovin it. The 2000xl's sampler is kinda shi**y compared to the pc and the s2000. I sample with like wavelab then chop with recycle and just load right into the s2000 with millinenum.

Feather , if I cant use the 8 outs from the s3000xl what about the regular s3000 and s3200?
Do you know anything about these?
Also , the s3000xl , is the IB-M208P in there and can I remove THAT and put it in my mpc 2000xl?
And , being that you had the s3000xl before , can you tell me a little bit more about it?
I see you said a few things so I was just wondering , even if the 8 outs wont work , maybe what you say will make me buy it anyway.
I REALLY need the 8 outs though so anyone who can answer the questions , please do.
Thanks y'all.

When I had the S3000xl I didn't have 8 outs on my MPC. I only got my 8 outs after I returned the sampler, but the combination of MPC & S3000xl was much more powerful. The screen is bigger than the MPC's so makes it easier to edit & it does some really basic, useful things like normalizing sample levels which the MPC2000 doesn't.
It is a really good sampler & you are being offered it at a bargain price.

Sorry, I don't know about the S3000 or S3200. Did you look at the list of machines on that link?

"Did you look at the list of machines on that link? "

yeah I checked it..
Hope he's right because I plan on grabbing one of those , which ever one I find first that has the effects and 8 outs.
Looks like he saying anyone of them will work.
I hope he's right because I'll grab that s3000xl and pop that stuff in my mpc and still link the mpc with the s3000xl since you guys are saying it's really nice.
I just wanna hear someone else co-sign what that guy said.
Just wanna be certain because , as I said , aint no returning this stuff.
And having a nice rack sampler is great but all I want it for is the 8 outs and effects.
I really dont NEED another rack sampler. I got the s1000.
Not saying the s1000 is THE sampler but you get what I mean.
Just want the 8 outs and effects and if I can get them for 2 bills AND have a next sampler , that would be cool.

The output expanders for the S-series do not technically fit the MPC's. That does not mean that you could not force them to. I would not recommend it since you could damage the expansion, or worse, the MPC.

Are you certain that the S3000XL in question has the EB-16? It was not a standard item.

The S3000XL is a mighty fine machine. Mine does double duty with sampling and hard disk recording.

GOD bless you mpc 3000.
Not just for responding in here but for all the if you've given on your site and your other contributions.
The guy says the eb is in there and the 8 outs are there.
Is it THAT hard to mount the eight outs?
Is there some guide online that can show me how?
I am no engineer but i am pretty handy and I have some knowledge of electronics although it's nowhere near your level.

I just called akais distribution number in rhode island
"US product support and service (for all Akai Professional products):
phone: 401.658-4032"

That guy said he really didnt know if they were different or not.
He said that's due to them just recently taking over the distribution and he has none of the parts there so he cant look at them and tell me.
Man ....

Thanks for all the help everyone.
I decided to just pick up the 8 outs from the store.
I got it for $219.
I gave the kid a deposit on the 3000xl and I'll give him the rest next week.
I'll have mad questions on that.
I know very little about mesa.
I'm gonna see what I can learn on the net.
I'm working on a mac g3.
Holla at me with any help , tips , ideas.
Thanks y'all.

it works, the part is the ibm208p, you might need a diff mounting kit, maybe custom drill holes, but it's 100% compatible. I've done it 2wice

im rockin xp. i had mad probs though with the scsi. u need to get the newest adaptec drivers, adaptec easy scsi, and if u using mill or mesa, right click and in properties make it say, Win 98 compat. it should work then. alos update ur ASPI drivers too. hope that helps
