So lets say you have Snares, Kicks, bass, vocal samples, etc etc etc, and you have a big CF card. Lets say you want to load 200 + samples on there, how doyou organize your stuff so you know what everytying is? How do you name the files?

What about when you're done working for the day, you save the SQ's and Program and songs and stuff, where DO YOU save them? And why?

I've tried folders, everything in the root, everything in the autoload, and so on and so on. I'm looking to see what seems to work out for everyone else.

Personally, I try to keep Programs and all their samples in one folder, so that I can quickly swap whole directories between cards and PC.
Then Songs and associated sequences directories of their own. That means that I don't load a song and all its programs in one go, a little co-ordination and documentation is required... which is fine for the studio.

If I was gigging with the MPC, I'd populate the memory with all the songs and programs I need for a song or series of songs, then "Save Entire Memory" - who needs any kind of hassle on stage?

Not trying to hijack the thread, but my question is along the same lines....... if u save your different programs in different folders from the actual sounds themselves, will the MPC will know automatically which sounds to pull from each folder? Cuz I wanna organize my folders for drums, snares, etc. etc.

in root, i keep a samples folder. in there i use a bass drum folder, a snare folder, claps, stabs, congas, etc

also in root i keep a few projects, each in their own folder.

i load drum samples as i pick them for each song, so the programs folder i keep (also in root) is very small. but it's there.

works for me. if i need to do anything complicated with directories, i pop out the card, it goes into the cf reader i use, and it's done on my computer.
