Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Just added 5 Gigs to my mpc for $40..... thought you guys might be interested in this.

These PCMCIA hard drives are made to add more storage to older laptops with PC slots.... well if you have a card read on your MPC that has a PCMCIA slot (i.e. the Mircotech PCD-47B) these drives will work in your machine. Just insert the drive, format it on the MPC and an instant 5 Gigs of storage is ready for use. I'm using the 2000XL with OS 1.14 and it works fine. My homie also has this working on his 2000 classic with a 2Gig card. These cards are about the size of a credit card and vertually noise free. There are about 15 of these drives on ebay at all times, you just have to be patient for a deal.

Holla at me with any questions.....

It won't? Is that based on experience or just what you have read on here or elsewhere? I don't think anyone has definitely confirmed if the new O.S 1.2 is limited to 2 gigs. Not that it is such a burning issue anyway. Just curious.

When I formatted the drive on the MPC it was divided into partitions..... there are 6 partitions of 800+ Megs..... maybe if it was formatted on a PC first it would read it as a straight 5 gig card. I don't have a PC slot on my computer so I can't test it....

If you use OS 1.2 then the partitions may be a little bigger than that...

I beleive the "Expert Member" is incorrect.

(Just so that when someone looks this up in the archives they are not left with the wrong impression)

Just so that you are clear, dcypher clearly states that the drive is partitioned as a pose to being seen as a 5gb disk - Thats what i meant by no the MPC wont (see the disk as one) or you telling me you made a special program in your spare time that has resolved this? Be my guest....Tell the people!

Ps, I 'believe' < thats what you meant (and there's you giving spelling tips on banner adds)

How would the partitions get bigger? Less of them?

5,000 (amount of KB in 5GB) / 6 (the amount of partitions) = 833 (the amount of KB in each of the 6 partitions)

for instance, os 1.20 is an improvement on the mpc abilty to recognize larger partitions (ask sir 3000 for the finer details) so I was saying that if for instance with os 1.20 partions of up 2gb can be handled as 1 partition then....You follow?????
