easy way to see if slide fader works?

hi, im new to mpc's and without knowing my way around a 2000xl i would like to see if the slder is in good working order, for a newbie whats the easiest way for me to test it>?

From the main screen, hit Shift 5 Then hit Shift F1 - Taking you to a hidden menu

Hit F5 (MemChk)

Hit F5 (PadChk) Then move the slider up and down, the slider value should go from 127 (top) to 0 (bottom) if its in fine working order

You can also check every pad in every bank and the jog wheel here too

When you have completed your tests, press Main Screen to return to normal mode

thanks bravo, but i dont get that screen, shift 5 takes me to the trim screen, then shift 1 takes me to a song screen, no secret menu.

no memchk, or padchk here...

any ideas?

thanks...looks like it doesnt work, slider is set at 5 and doesnt change...it flickers to 4 sometimes but no change really...damn

Maybe the contacts need cleaning - Contact cleaner etc

yea try either the contact cleaner or some canned air, or blow in it like the old nintendo. that fixed mine. ha.

hey bravo, im just comparing two 2kcls now to see which is in better working order...so i was doing these tests, no wi go into pad tests and hold the pads and i get their velocities, what do these numbers represent, ie what is "healthy working order" ...higher or lower etc,,.

how can i do this on my mpc 2000 when i do shift f1 in trim nothing happens

not possible on the 2000 as far as i know... its an XL thing...
