Broken Screen / Power Supply???

I recently purchased a MPC60 mk1 off of Ebay. The unit was sold as is with a screen that lights up with no text. I read around on the boards and saw that reseating the connectors might fix this problem. As I reseated the connector I noticed it was a little loose. When I closed the machine up and turned the power on, the screen didn't light up at all. I was just wondering if anyone has any advise on how to go about fixing this on my own or if there are other things I should check for. Or maybe someone else has had this same problem. Maybe a bad power supply or maybe in need of a new backlight display. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I was just wondering if you fixed it your self or if you took the MPC to a technician.

what cost you 100 bucks?

p.c.p was me. I couldn't remember my password. The 60 had a damaged power supply and a couple blown fuses. I think the connector from the power supply was also on backwards. I got it fixed right here in Orlando at Welles Electronics. The guy in their knows his stuff about Mpc's. I went in thinking it was going to take a couple of weeks to fix. Before I could even get home they called and said it was fixed.

Thanks for the information I openned the mpc last night and looked around again. I was bored out of my mind so I said let me look again. I openned her up and started following cables and noticed that there is a cable that runs under the plate that hold up the drum pads. It seems that this cable has been pinned underneath the metal plate and a piece of metal that is suppose to support the top of the casing. I am sure that this was causing the ground noise cause the cable was pretty bare from the metal touching metal. So I wrapped some electrical tape around it, closed the mpc and took her back to the lab. I connected everything and turned her on........Yesssssssss no ground sound....well almost no ground noise... i still hear but it is only when I have the volume extremly loud... tell the truth I think I got to replace the cable but for now I will be ok.... On to the next project.

bruce says the ground sound is normal. showed me his 60 and did the same thing. output boost jsut makes it louder. its all good cause you cant hear it on playback, only when youre holding onto the pads.
