does anyone hook up their VCR's to their MPCs? If so, how do you connect it?

Red White RCA to 1/4 adapter jacks to MPC line in.
I do the same thing with my xbox, ps2 and ps1, for some good games sounds, cept' I route the cables to my PC line in and cut/chop in sound forge..

I'm glad this post is up because when I hooked up my VCR to my mixer I got a weird feedback noise does anyone know why?

you can try one of those ground loop isolators from radio shack like 8 bucks..might get rid of the hum noise

I sample from DVD and VCR.

But, I realized that once I find the part I want to sample, I need to TURN OFF the TV while I'm actually recording the sample.

When the TV is on I get this super high-pitched whine in my sample.

save that 8 bucks...

...it's the Cable wire...I don't know why, but when it's connected it pumps that feedback into it...disconnect and voila

yeah games are a great obvious source of samples. ive actually done the reverse though, ive done some work as a sound designer for two games. pretty competitive industry though.

by the way, the band i was in... we sampled "Impossible Mission" from the C64 platform. the track we wrote was quite successful here in Australia and got a lot of air-play, though there was some legal issues eventually... the author had ok'd it but the PUBLISHING COMPANY hadnt. a sign of the times.... madness.

more power to the 8-bit gaming samples!!
