My mpc1k froze just now while making a banger/ i got an idea

ok my mpc just froze, i upgraded to 1.05. this never happened b4 with 1.04 so if it does it again i'm going back to 1.04.


THIS IS THE IDEA THOUGH (nothing to do with above)

to hook up a cd burner (zip,cd-rom,cd-rw,etc...) through the cf reader on the mpc1k

it'll look like a cf card, with a cable attached (sort of like a car stereo cd adapter tape)

I know it can be done!!!!! come on guys, some of you know about this stuff more than me. so holla back at this idea....

yeah i thought of instread of attacting it to your computer, take the USB and connect it to a external CD-R/CD-RW.... but i dont know if it will work or not. how would you transfer the file?

I know what you mean...that'd require some pretty heavy duty engineering. You'd probably have to construct your own chip which fit in a case the size of a CF card, which would have to be able to not only communicate along the standard CF interface but also drive any device that may be connected to it (CD drive, etc). It might not be that fast either, even if you could do it. Realistically speaking, it's not going to happen, nice idea though.
Personally I wish they'd gone with Smartmedia cards or even Memory Sticks rather than CF. And I hate that rickety eject button! It's bound to get smashed off at some point...
