I was told that the new os will be released the end of next month. So far I found out that the 16 level tune will be included. (the assignement of one sound at different pitches on the sixteen pads) Until then i'll be missing the XL. I'm starting to miss all the little things that were so easy to do on the xl; it's just this learning curve i have to get passed. I've also made a suggestion for implementing expanded midi control utilizing the usb port via usb midi interface like emt8, emt4, unitor or midex or proprietary interface made by akai. Akai Japan is really on point, and listening closely; my phone bill is going to be outrageous!!!!!

Correction it is coming the end of this month. OS 1.50
Emu, Roland support. Audition sample (listen to sample b4 loading)
Drum mixer (the mixer we love from the 2000xl)
Mac OSX support!
Streaming samples from disk will not be in this update; it is still going through the testing stage and will be included in another os upgrade. (it's good to know more is coming)
Akai Japan is the bomb-diggitty!
Peace

I have no idea. I would imagine both. I can't wait though. It'll put me right back in the zone that I was in when I got rid of the 2000xl. The 16 levels is a quick fix for me and necessary when I'm working with a deadline. I don't see the hard drive as being beneficial just yet. When we can stream samples directly from disk; that's a different story. I've reached the point where I'm almost comfortable beating the sh-t out of this machine. Finally found the note off when I need the sound to immediatley stop when triggering the samples. This is a fine hardware sequencer; it's handling the internal programs; triton and sound modules really well. The Xl was rock solid too; just didn't have those extra midi ports. This is an unbelievable workstation and they still haven't finished with the OS. I decided to go with the digital adat (2 in 8 out) option because I have the litepipe in the o1v and pci card in the pc. This will free up my analog inputs on the 01v for the triton, carnaval and xl-1 turbo. After these parts are installed and I get this machine to full studio d spec; I'll be off the boards for a while completing projects and hopefully the video.

Peace
