what os you using??

Back up everything on your harddrive to a computer or something and reformat your hd with an updated os. Also, when you save, create a new folder EVERY TIME and use the " save entire memory" option.

EDIT: I remember someone that had this problem suggested saving "All programs and samples" then "all songs & sequences". In a new folder, of course.

i jus upgraded to the 1.24 i believe...im basically starting all over cause i had sounds programs and sequences scattered around everywhere on the cf im using...so i basically saved all my sounds to my mac and deleted the rest...then i put all kicks & 808s in one folder, snares in another ect...would it be wise to make my kits on the mpc from those folders or not?

You mean instead of makin the program(drum set) on the computer, with a computer program?? I guess it don't matter, but makin programs on the original akai operating system is way shiittay. You might wanna consider that jj ..
That ishs the real deal. I think you on the right track, though. add another folder called "drum kits" or something , so that you can save all the kits you make for easy access, and put all those in a folder called "drums". Oh yeah you might wanna have a folder for "breaks" in there as well, and don't forget about those hats too..

Good luck homie.. you did format that card on the mpc right??

yea i think ima have to make that switch to that jjos..i been doin sum lightweight research on it, for the most part its all good reviews..,im jus hopin that its not completely different so i wont have to figure my mpc out alll over again.
but yea basically i have a folder called LANDOESKITS and in that folder i have seperate folders such as, DOESKICKS, DOES808S DOESNARES ect...its workin out so far..but it hasnt even been 24 hours yet so i wont get too excite lol

and when you say format the card, do you mean the compact flash card or no?
By phx_chronic Tue Mar 17, 2009 11:06 pm
yeah, i meant the card, but i don't really use one so i guess i don't know if you have to format it like a hard drive..
I'm pretty sure you do, but... maybe someone else can let you know.

btw, you don't HAVE to format your card/harddrive to use it or anything... it's just that that will take care of the "wrong file" bug(s) you were having.

also, don't worry about the learning curve of jjos, it's very similar in the wqy its layed out... just more convenient
