MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Great sound: bass synth distorted with "Distortion Grimey" - especially when you turn the "Center" knob constantly - but how to save this???

The Akai support guy told me to switch the Mixer Automation on - it´s still not recording the knob movements. Not even the effect settings. Please help soon!

Thanks diegoeskryptic, but there´s nothing on Page 91 that helps.

Thanks, acoustiventure.

Yes, the only way to save static effect settings is saving the entire memory, but movements of the knobs have to be recorded before they can be saved.

Could it be that I can record effect automation only in SONG mode? It is not possible to record it in a sequence. :(

some extra info:

1.you have to assign the effect parameter you want to record to a q-link slider in the q-link page.
2.you have to assign the q-link functionality to the effects page (in a tab-page on the q-link page, standard set to "program" instead of "effect")
3.now you can record the knob movement from whatever page you're in during the record phase
4.the recorded events appear in the step edit page as FX...-events on the track that you were in during recording... and in the grid display as bars (you have to choose them to be visualized although...)
5. if you mute this track, of course, the knob tweaking won't play... (which is a bit confusing, there should have been a separate mixer track, but if you're clever enough, you attribute one of the track's exclusively to fx- and/or mixer-recording)
6. and yes, they work in sequence mode.

have fun! :)

Thank you very much, Askia and acoustiventure! :D

Now I finally can tame this beast...

Sorry for asking silly questions, but I bought it 2 weeks ago ... and I might be too impatient :D

Well, it works - but when you record something after the fx automation is gone...

more precisely: after recording knob-movements of an effect paramenter, the following recording (on another track!!!) erases the movements.

Is there any way to solve this problem?

do you mean, that you have no problems with this or that this seems to be a bug?

what I described here as point 5 doesn't seem to work though, fx parameters cannot be muted with the track mute functionality... :(
