New pad question...

I just received my new pads from mpcstuff, and I installed them, but unless I have the full level switch on, I have to really beat on them to get a level. I've maxed out the pad sensitivity control, is there something else (like some other setting or detail) that I'm missing?

What OS are you working with?

I've tried it with Akai OS 2.12, JJOS 3.09, and JJOS1. There is a little variation between the different OS's, but the problem persists...

I have pretty much the same issue. I've tried Akai 2.12 (which had the better sensitivity) and JJ OS 1. Is this an OS problem or do we need to mod our pads? Is there perhaps a break in period in which maybe the rubber becomes less stiff and sensitivity increases?

I had no break in period for OS2/OS2XL... not sure about OS1/Akai OS though :/

Mode+Other and then adjust the sensitivity of the pads. No "Break In Period".

Also, if you find the gap between the pads and sensors is bothering you, try Either NYM's Silicon Glue Fix, or my Electrical Tape Fix.

I got the pad sensitivity thing sorted out now. I used the electrical tape method. I used 5 pieces instead of 3. I liked that sensitivity the best.

I'm not sure how well this tape will stand up to time. Any problems with this method yet?

The problem I was having when I first installed my new pads was that I had the Pad On Level all the way up. It should be all the way down to 1. The other numeric settings should be all the way up. Hope that helps...

Yeah, after I figured that out, the pads sensitivity was pretty nice.

My problem was that I didn't know about the sensitivity adjustment numbers related to each pad at the top of the screen. Maxed that out to 25 and it was real nice with the electrical tape under the pads. It's a lot better now than when the MPC was brand new.

No Problems with the electric tape yet. I'm about to take a look inside for wear/detachment issues this weekend. It's been about three weeks since I installed it.

all this electrical tape talk will this improve sensitvity on un-upgraded pad sets as well?

Aint a damn thing you can do about the old pads. I tried a bunch of the "fixit" ideas, and nothing made them work well. Once they start going, do yourself a favor and buy the new ones.

works fine for me, i used 4 layers, and attached them to the pads,
when i ll get the black pads, then i ll try to fix the electric gap on the
opposite surface what is i think better for the gap.
