This runs contrary to what another poster recommended but I tried Maplin's SODIMM 256Mb upgrade and it failed to work! The MPC runs Bootblock, gets about halfway through pass 1 then tells me it's failed and the problem was found in memory...I'm assuming it's just an incompatible bit of RAM...but how can I be certain the next third party memory I buy won't have the same problem?

Hi from a new member! I'm in Australia so this may not be much help to many of the members here.

I just put this RAM into my MPC 2500 and it works, BUT...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/IBM-256MB-RAM-supports-ALL-PC-133-PC133-Laptop-SYDNEY_W0QQitemZ250398580336QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Laptop_Parts?hash=item250398580336&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

My MPC 2500 is an early one (has the old style pad sensor of the 2000XL).
I'm not sure but I thought I heard the occasional sound glitch or audio click when playing back one of my sequences.
Don't think it was there before when using the stock 16mb RAM, but I could be mistaken (memory tricks).
I'll keep an eye on it, and I think I will try to fill up the entire RAM and then empty it to see what happens.

So what is the max CF card size? I hear some say they've got 16GB cards working with jjos. Is this the case with all versions of jjos? I looked on the jjos site and I did not see any reference as to what it does different in this regard or if is the case.

so what I'm asking is ...

GhostofJohnToad wrote:Using JJOS 3.08 free version I have the Kingston 16GB shown below working. Formatted using MPC and works like a charm.

would that be a typeII or a type III card? and does it work with AKAI OS? I'm gonna download the free version of the JJ OS and give it a go, seems like it's way more capable than the original OS.

I also got some old samsung ram, it's 256mb pc133 CL2.5 anybody got experience with something like that? is CL2.5 cool or what? I read almost the whole thread and someone said that samsung ram didn't work but I'm not sure if that matters.

thx 4 any input y'all

peace
