Have a client that bought a consumer DAT machine a few years ago.
Now attempting to copy their own archives to a standalone burner or pc,
they realize all the copies are rendered uncopyable by SCMS, the copy-protection coding used by many DAT machines.
This seems like it's only on consumer models, but I have no idea.
Does anyone know if the SV-3500s, 3700s etc. (whiteface joints) have
copy-protection that gets coded onto the tape? And if so, is there anyway
to disable that function without going through outboard protection rigging
devices?
Thank you kindly!
