connection prob mpc1k motifes6 and rolandxv5050

does anyone have any idea how i would be able to hook them all together ?

i know the mpc takes 2 midi devices ....


how do i get the motifes to control the xv5050 ?

will the mpc1k remember what patches i chose on the xv5050 or will i have to manual set them each time ? ?


im not to good with this .........

i currently am using my motifes with the mpc1k perfect


but im decided if i wanna sell the xv5050..... so i wanna see how them mesh all together

I think it's motif es midi in to MPC midi out and then motif es out to MPC midi in. Then Motif ES midi thru to XV-5050 midi in.

So want to record sounds from the motif and xv-5050 into the mpc by having the motif controlling the XV but still want the MPC to be the master.

Hook up your motif to your mpc. Then the motif midi thru to xv midi in.
But remember that your motif has to be turned on in order for the xv to work


how will i chose sounds for the xv on the motif or mpc ?

- You have 2 MIDI outs on the MPC, so you can avoid Thru in this setup - always a good thing. Hook each synth to port A or B, select _A or _B in the track MIDI settings.
- Check your synth docs for how to use them with a Sequencer like the MPC e.g. set the XV to "Performance" mode.
- You insert the correct Program (Patch) changes in each Track, before the MIDI notes. Or 1 patch change in (say) Track 1 if you are saving Performance setups in the XV5050 (and the Motif equivalent). Up to you, I guess, this is your choice, out of the MPC's control.

Is your Motif ES a keyboard model? If so, take a look at what I wrote in the FAQ about this: http://stereoroid.com/sounds/mpc1000/faq.php#pads06
Key points:
- Set the MPC Soft Thru = "As Track". Then, MIDI going in to the MPC from the Motif is routed according to the Active Track - that can be to MPC samples, Out A, Out B, etc. as you wish.
- This makes the MPC the "MIDI Router" - it controls where the MIDI goes when you play live.
- In practice: set up the Track MIDI correctly in the MPC, test it works, then hit Record. The Sequence will play back as you recorded it, with no confusion. (But you still need to fix the Program (Patch ) Changes as above for the synth.)
- But the Motif also sends note commands to itself - so you can get double triggering. The answer is to set Local = Off in the Motif. This splits its keyboard from its sound module and leaves the MPC in total control of where the MIDI goes all the time. (Less confusing when you have multiple modules.)

But saying "u guys in here are 1000% better than the other people in the mpc1k forum" is nothing compared to some of the stuff we see here every day, and I'm sure you weren't talking 'bout me, were you? Raiiiit? Not gonna stop me helping if I can, on this forum, "Newbie Forum", and "MPC Studio Environments" too.

General advice: draw a picture! Break it down into little problems, tackle them one at a time.
Where's the MIDI coming from?
- Motif keyboard and MPC Sequencer.
Where do you want it to end up?
- Motif synth section, XV5050
How do you get it to go there?
- Wire up both the MIDI In & Out on the Motif to the opposite ports on the MPC1000. Wire up MPC Out B to XV5050. Set Motif "Local Off" so it doesn't double-trigger notes when you play its keyboard.
What's in the MIDI streams?
- From Motif -> MPC: one fixed channel from the keyboard e.g. Channel 1. (Yes, I know it can split & layer - don't do that yet.)
- the MPC1000 is your "MIDI Router" if you set Soft Thru = "As Track". It will convert the incoming MIDI
- From MPC1000 to Motif Synth and XV5050: Up to 16 channels each, multitimbral.
What will it do when it gets there?
- Both Motif and XV5050 must be ready to receive multitimbral MIDI from the MPC1000 to play sequences back correctly. This means "Performance" mode on the XV5050. I think it means Song Mode on the Motif.

I'm here because helping is in my nature, it's as natural as making music. If it gets abused, then the music stops... but that hasn't happened yet.

or atlease thats how i got minez to work and the xv manual said

hey man, hows that xv5050 sound? are the drums and overall sound pretty realistic?? I've been thinkin about gettin one for awhile now.

any module for drums is horrible !!!
