Old Drum Machines?

I dont have too many.. i do like them though.

One of these days I want to get a 606 if the price is not crazy.

here is my 505



and my rx-17




payed something like 50 or 60 bucks for the 505... and i payed 20 bucks for the rx-17 which came with this 20 foot midi cable, haha.

both are in almost mint condition, but the pics are crap.

Yeah man, love his hip hop beats as well as the techno stuff he's putting out espeacely the older stuff, got loads of it on vinyl...the stuff that plays inside out is mad, people always look at you funny when you are cueing one of them up hahah

One drum machine I would love to own is a CR-8000 by roland, for break beats/hip hop they sound great and I use them for techno and house all the time...the claps are great, sound like a 808 but different.

Drumulator, Oberheim DX, Casio VL-1 -- and not so old school Kaosilator and Boss DR-202. Though I guess the 202 is at the 10-11 year mark now.



Circuit bent Casio RZ-1.

Nice setup beduin. And also a nice ambiguous Avatar cause the fez just look a like a knob of an old synth or mixer.

Its a bit strange with my drummachines. I dont remember how I got them and I dont know how I "loose" them
The first one was the yamaha dd10 and I was 15 or so. Dont know what happen to this thing but I know I got a cassette with some beats from the dd10 and me beatboxing over it with a really cheap mic. Sounds horrable.

Later I got the DR550 then the DR660 and the TR505
In case of the TR505 I know that I lend it to a friend who moved to another city and never saw it since then.
I also used the 505 to trigger samples from my Atari (with replay16 sampler module). It was fun

The Studio 440 ROCKS!!! mega drool lol I think it does have analogue filters, I used to own a SCI Prophet 2000 which I think the sampler on the 440 is based on the man the sound is out of this world...the S-900 stole the Prophet 2000's glory at the time for obvoius reasons, it was easy to use and had a lcd screen
The P-2000 has the same filter chips as the Prophet 5 and good god yes the filter sounds good...analogue for sure

Eddit > apparently the filter is analogue but non resonant and also the unit is compatible with P-2000 disks but the thing is the P-2000 has one hell of a resonant and self oscilating filter it's crazy...bags of balls

I'm too poor to afford a sp1200 or a studio 440. I bought an emax, but that joint is difficult to use.

Lol, I actualy picked up my Prophet 2000 for only 5GBP at a junk fair...probelem was it only worked for one hour hahah but in that hour I heard the most amazing 12 bit sampler, honestly it sounds shit hot!
That analogue Curtis filter is amazing, user interface sucks though imo.

Actualy the EMU Emax ii was the first sampler I ever used lol My school had one in arround 98-99, very cool thing but mega big and heavy the keyboard...

I've been thinking of getting an SP12 or an SP1200 in a year or so, but it seems risky to pay $1500+ for a machine like that and possibly have to have it repaired even on arrival. If I could get one from someone I know did an overhaul from top to bottom and knows their stuff I might be interested . . .

Ordinary SP12s are getting hard to find. That's really all I need since I don't intend to use it for anything but drums.

Tell me about it, huh. And there are alot of sleezy cats on ebay. Luckily, the one time I had that problem, the seller took it back (Maestro Rhythm King MRK - The Sly Stone drum machine).

Going back to Sequential Circuits, I'm keeping an eye out for the Prophet 2000 rack. Don't have much space for more boards.

Yea man the Prophet 2002, you wont regret it...it sounds out of this world...couldn't recomend it more
It's also got in-built sounds in the rom when you power it up which are samples of the Prophet 5

its really not that difficult at all... i got mine in the mail today and already i am sampling & making my own sounds w/o even taking a look at the manual. its actually all self explanatory, all the setting you can change are on the face of the emax and if you dont know what they do, then experiment!
