i gotta agree, but i wouldn't go so far as to say he's wack or anything... i might just not get it.

i was at fatbeats when him and his crew was gonna perform and nobody was there... i picked up my records and copped out before he went on.. haha

I just don't feel Black Milk's drums too much, they sound too trashy rock to me. Hey, they even sound "white" like the way rock went. I can dig some early 60's/70's rock, but Black's stuff don't remind me of any of that. Sound like some rock band performing on a football stadium with some "whatever" soul samples pitched too much up. Not my cup of tea. Like some of his stuff tho'. But I think his chopping and sound just sounds like a wall of sound, no "beat" to me, just hyped chaos. Sound very squashed, like most stuff. No dynamics, just a loud wall of everything. And I think he sounds like a little Jay Z when he raps which, again, is not my cup of coffee. No balls on this one.

Black is one of the illest and most gifted hip hop producers around. His music (at least Tronic) is melodic and intricate, a nice evolution from his beginnings. I think he now uses alot of drum plugins, addictive or BFD...something to that extent.

EQ won't polish a turd. its about the core sound. In messing with BFD i've learned its mostly about the dimensions of the snare for example 6x14 snare has a deep boomy kinda sound where as a 3x14 has a snap/crack sound. Once the core sound is close then you can use EQ and noise gate to shape the sound.
