I have gone from thinking the 1k was gonna be the badass, end-all monster machine, capable of handling anything I throw at it, to realizing that its not perfect, to accepting the shortcomings.

Now my main challange is to make a banger of a track despite the 1ks flaws.
I'm sick of stopping to complain about this and that. Bugs suck, yes, but really I'm just too damn lazy to start some big e-mail campaign...well, maybe i might...

Anyhow, I just wanted to suggest once again that MPC-Tutor create a bugs and wishlist section of the forum. Yeah, I know there is a symbiotic relationship between this site (and its sample pack biz) and Akai; ie., the worse Akai looks, the fewer sample sales, etc. But the people are noticing some bugs, and the place to put these complaints is in a bugs/wishlist forum.

Oh yeah, here's another one:

When I record a bar or so of knob/CC movement automation info, the sequencer slows way down and gets really sloppy. Also, on the same song, when I go to put on another track of say drums or something, the track with all the CC info cuts out for a few rounds. It all comes back on eventually though.

Well, I guess I wasn't tired of complaining!

To be fair, maybe all the mpcs do this; I don't know-this is my first. Also, while my g3 500mhz iBook can handle a bit more automation, I can still make it drop to its knees if i get too crazy with recording knobs...

But still. Maybe its the fact that I still have the factory 16mb of ram in my machine. Actually, I was going to ask if anyone knew if putting the 128 chip in it would improve automation performance. Would it?

The best machines usually come from projects run by a single, very motivated and talented guy. These guys still exist, but I don't think any of them are working with Akai...

right, Roger Linn, Dave Smith, Bob Moog, all doing their own thing and quite well I might add. THey're dropping the whole big company thing.
