JJOS1 to JJOS2 Q's

Not covered in FAQ and have read his site, but still wanted to confirm w/ folks here:

1. I have JJ OS1 installed, and want to upgrade to JJ OS2 (not XL, at least not yet) -- in order to do so, do I first need to install XL, then downgrade back to JJ OS2 by reinstalling OS1, then installing OS2? (I ask because it says you can't install OS2 via XL...perhaps I've misunderstood? If there's an easier way please let me know.)

2. None of the JJ OS's are compatible with each other in terms of projects -- ie. projects made w/ JJ OS1 can only be opened/used with JJ OS1, etc.

1. No doubt, it's getting confusing. Especially since there is a difference between licensing for the 1000 and 2500 now. You didn't mention which you have. For 2500, you must buy XL. 1000 gives you the option to buy OS2 still.

2. It's all roughly compatible in terms of sequencing, but your projects are likely gonna have some issues in a new OS version. Nothing you can't fix in a few minutes (or workaround).

Hey thanks for the replies! I have a 2500, and I did search around on the site and found some helpful info but just wanted to confirm (someone should update the FAQ!)

I think it's too bad you can't just simply install OS2 from OS1; that you have to first install XL, then install OS1, then install OS2. There's really no other way? Sheesh!

you'll lose the 4th layer, and a filter, and you'll notice a difference in filter sound. there's a big gain in terms of sequencing, access to stuff, automation of bits, but u look at the chart, it should settle it.
