Letter To Akai

I was thinking if i started a letter to these people about the 2500 jog wheel if so many of us have the problem why not try and make them come up with another optional jog wheel since the mpc is still in production. it should not be hard for them.
So if you think this might work sign this petition and i will be calling them at 12pm est. time.

Because the more and more i think about it this damn wheel is bullshit. for the quality of the machine.

forget asking them to do anything drastic. just convince them to release the specs so people can go on newegg or w/e and find themselves a replacement

that's the problem with any attempt i've made to find a different encoder for the 1000, too - rotary encoders are difficult to determine what the specs are unless you have the sheet.

anything ever come of this?

if it could happen for the 2500, it could also happen for the 1000

i hate the jog wheel from the beginning...

if i had an old harddrive near me i would open it up cause i wanna know if you really can feel the single clicks/steps with, and what kind of connection pins . it looks very undestroyable but would probably not work because there are not mechanical steps

you know the rotary encoder piece of the 1000 is the STEC12E07 from ALPS

i'm looking for the name of the 2500 piece ,is it from ALPS too? i can't find it in any shop or even on ALPS.com . Any information?

It is from Alps and it's on the thread about the Jog wheel being so poor. Couldn't find the exact one on their website but you can find the family. Alps have not responded to my email about possible alternatives...

822352X Switch, Rotary Encoder this is the only thing i found in the part numbers post. but this is not very usable, only to order it from akai i think. why is this so hard to find and the stec12e07 is available everywhere?

now we can find an encoder with identical specs and replace the 1000 encoders with them....

NO STOP , i think that was a mistake, it's the part number from the 2000xl encoder (stec12e07)

i found it with the search fuction and missed the topic was 2000/2000xl ,sorry

Im on board. Going from the 2kxl wheel to the 25 was like trading my glock for a bb gun.. AArgh..
Although life did get better when i read that you could trim samples with the sliders. That took a coule weeks.. Doh!

In there I posted the parts list to a few MPC's. I think almost every MPC got posted after people starting contacting Akai.

I dont remember seeing somebody post it for the 1000 though. Just contact the Parts Rep from Akai and ask her for the parts list on the MPC1000.
