Just Got My MPC 1K: I Got A Question For Yall?

and this is more suited for those who have not had a mpc before..how long did it take you to grasp everything?

I switched from FL Studio because i wanted more hands on beatmaking and looking through the menu's the possiblities look endless. Im new to the board and plan on asking alot of questions. Any advice for somebody starting out w/ their first hardware sampler?

Plan on being confused for at least 2 weeks.

I definately feel that way right now..very intimidating..i just plan on repeatedly reading the manual and going through trial and error.

well...i got mine about a week ago or so...and i too converted from flstudio...but i also had a yamaha motif7 for a yr aswell...so i learned alot from the both prior to getting the mpc1k...but it only took me a lil bit to understand the functions n get to creating a beat...things take time tho...so dont burn ya self...and i suggest reading and practicing at the same time...it'll help expand your knowledge best...good luck....1.

a program editor for the mpc1k, helps you load samples on a program on the computer...save it...and then load it on the compact flash card...then on the mpc1k...and then open that folder...and the drums will be layed out on the mpc. might help, might not...could be of use for others tho.

some sites that may help you better understand how to construct beats using the mpc (even though they may be aimed towards the mpc2kxl's ect...u may still be able to apply some of the techniques used...on the mpc1k)

I just got one 3 weeks ago : I still do not master everything,
but here`s how I learned so far :

1- play with the pads and the demo sounds
2- record your own loops
3- learn the Q link
4- learn how to save your loop on the flash memory
5- learn how to load samples from the computer qnd how to build a program
6- go to Akaipro.com to load freesamples and programs

I still haven`t figured really how to build a sequence, I`m kind of lazy, I record the loops on Cubase !!!

It took me about a week to figure it out... Read the manual and you'll be straight. It's amazing how much you can learn by just reading.

Yeah the first 2 weeks i learn so much from reading the manual it has everything u need 2 know, read the tips in the manual as well, pretty good, after the first 2 weeks i was banging out songs. the 3rd fooling around with everything it has to offer. Pretty much user friendly..

I got the idea of how to record and make beats in a day... That was easy. Its just the other stuff Im having trouble with like... Syncing it to Sonar or recording the assignable out puts... I cant get those working but, loading samples, saving, sequecing, step editting, copy n pasting, etc... all that good stuff I figured it all out with in 2 weeks... I wasnt really confused because I have a Motif ES 6 and the functions are similar...
