I'm using the orginal 2k with a 100 mb zip. all works fine, i'm gonna use this puppy live so want to load additional programs mid-set. right now it takes a while to reload, is there any way to speed things up??? i have a 4gb scsi drive but i can't get it to work (the 2k can only use 1gb which i think is the problem), anyone out there usin' a 1gb SCSI hard drive? does it speed up the loading time, or should i just deal with what i've got......? thoughts?????? thanks........

You can load as many different samples, programs, sequences & songs to fill the MPC as your RAM allows. It might be a case of getting the maximum RAM fitted rather than finding something faster than a zip to load from. Then you can have everything loaded up at the start of your live set.

If you have lots of different songs & programs loaded at once it is a good idea to start each song with a program change command so it automatically calls up the correct program for that song.

im running a 380 meg hd on my 2k, it loads only a tid bit quicker than my zip. but its really old and dookie so i bet a newer drive would be faster. but it s hard to find a newer drive thats 25 pin bs whoever made it should rot in hell scsi connector, and ive had problems with 25-50/68 pin adapters..

CDROM flys! Plus you can purchase them in different speeds, I don't have a problem with speed. My zip is a bit "antiquated" but that's about it, and it's cool once it "warms up", but the CD is much faster IMO. I have both.
