LCD Classic-XL Swap

I posted a reply in the repair LCD screen thread with no response for a week so I'm creating a new thread.

The MPC classic and MPC XL LCD's are the same exact model the only difference is the length of the ribbon and wire.

I just got my hands on a XL for free and I have a classic. The XL has a pixelated screen.

Is there anyway I can remove and resauter the XL ribbon onto the Classic functioning screen?

probably... you could try emailing mpc stuff, or vst or one of those experts to find out if it is possible... you could also bring it to an eletronic shop and they should be able to do the soldering for you.

Just send it to me and I'll solder it on for ya.

post pics of both of them and i'll tell ya...i thought it was a plug and play switch..but not positive.

I have put a XL display in my 2000.
No problem, the ribboncable is as you sad longer than the 2000 version.
That's also why you can't use it in a opposite way.

I just want this XL running bad, and I can't wait until a new screen is enough for my budget.

It's either the ribbons getting swapped or the Classics getting sold, one or the other.

are they diferent?

Since the XL is a flip screen the ribbon and wire are extended to reach the power supply on the bottom.

The classic is simply mounted on top. That's the only difference.
