60 users tried a 500s seq.?

Any 60 user tried a 500? I allready know nothing is the same as a 60 but is the sequencer similar to the 60s?

But ther are users that go and buy the MPC500. Maybe they buy it for a reason? Or if they dont sell it and they use it, maybe they keep it for a reason.

Ive used one at GC and I admit that I felt uncomfortable working on it trying to make a beat.

Nothing can beat the 60-3k-2k I guess.

Agreed. I owned one, and sold it, but not because of how it sounded, or how it felt. The screen is kinda wack, but it's capable of making some good music. You can shape the sound with the compressor/eq, and it can resample. It's a dope lil box. The sequencer works the same as any other MPC, but it's the screen that will put people off more than anything. You have to scroll through pages just to do something simple like copy bars, but if you can get used to it, the MPC500 will not disappoint.

I've used a 500 and the user interface is even worse than the o.g. ASR calculator style display.

It's nowhere close to a 60, even if it features 128MB ram and a couple of FX. Dope little box? Nah. Way too expensive for what it offers.

It is a dope little box in the right hands... i.e. people who are willing to spend time with it and dont expect it to make their beats for them

I've got a 500 and I quite like it, however given the choice I would use a use the 60.
The 60 makes life feel good and dirty when you use it, the 500 make life feel clean and digital.

werd. the features for the price had me askin questions..

the mpc500 is the culmination of Roger Linn not being with Akia anymore.when they started making budget mpc's,its the begining of the end.the only one that was really good after he left was the 2000xl....well maybe the 4000 too.i actually like the 4000.

The 2000xl was/is a great machine but don't write off the 2500. With the addition of the JJ os, hard drive and USB it really is a fantastic machine. It may not last 20 years like the 60 or 3000, but nevertheless it keeps the feel of those early units and expands on the feature set.

yea true. but,the older machines just have that feel.when i get on a 2500,i don't feel like im on an mpc at all.i feel like it's some other brand of drum machine.it's hard to explain. i meen i know when im using it that its akai and that its an mpc.but it just feels like a whole new product. if that makes sense at all.

u can make good drums/groove even on 2500 and even 500.... it depends on you...

but the touch of old one is not comparable to the new one...
