I just want to post that i have bought the above item
it arrived today, plug it in and it works instantaneously
(strangely with no ram checks or test at all, on startup it just shows 128mb )
while prev rams that i tried all went into test mode and all failed !

just got mine today and worked no problem. a great deal for $9.......GET IT GET IT GET IT GET IT!!!!!

That's the one i've been tempted to get but he's got some bad feedback! Anyway if you guys are having no problem getting it should be good. Heck, it's only £7 anyway. Just don't wanna waste time goin through several sticks of ram before i find one that works. I wanted to order the exm ram but it can take 2-3 week to get thru customs and the seller hasn't responded to my emails so i guess it's his loss. Or is it my loss?

Ah excellent! Do you have a link to the seller? I've emailed a few sellers on ebay but none of them seem to want to reply. I'm at the stage now where i'm just gonna risk buying some that is listed here but that's what i did in the first place so i'm a little dubious!

This is the one i'm looking at: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... AQ:GB:1123

the specs look good, it might work. can't assure you tho cuz i can't find a brand.
heres the link to the one i got, its off eBay Germany.

I think it's IBM. I thought maybe your guy might have a shop on the uk site but only seems to be europe and i think the shipping is 6 euros. I'll go with the hynix that others have had luck with. Cheers.

Sorry for the delay, I got the RAM a week ago and only got a chance to install it today! Anyway, just wanted to report that the ram I bought is good to go! and at $10 you can't go wrong.

RAM WOES RAM WOES

So after reading this thread, i decided to get some ram. CF card works great, have a 32 gig scandisk one.
BUT RAM!

holy moley.
first i found some hynix ram at work and boy was i happy. The specs were correct 133mhz, CL3, 3.3v etc. So i took the 128mb ram home and popped it in my mpc.

pass 1: ok
pass 2: ok
pass 3: ok
pass 4: failed at 48%.

error (880000)

Wierd i thought, so i found another 3 sticks and took them home too. But the same error, on all 4 sticks at 48%. Must be the ram right?

Next i bought myself a Kingston stick of 512 mb, recommended here... all the correct specs.

pass 1: failed at 74%.

error (90000)

no one on these forums has talked about bootblock. is there any way around it (i realize it is a memory check and probably needs to happen) but i am certain that the ram is FINE. after all, the kingston stick was brand new and to specs from these forums.

any suggestions? whats the next brand to test? i don't wanna keep forking out cash for ram thats not working...
this is the ram i bought:

any help would be much appreciated.

I just tried a 6GB CF Card from a MP3 Player. And it noticed it easily.

Had the same problem when I first installed mines. I bought the same Memory for $9.00 off ebay. Figured I fried it by touching it before installng. So i chalked it up as a lost and bought another $10 memory strip from another seller. And it worked fine.

Sounds like faulty ram. Only going on my experience though but the ram i tried that didn't work ran boot test each time. The hyinx ram worked straight away.

Oh yeah that's a point. I was careful with the 2nd stick i got; bought one of those disposable wrist straps to make sure i didn't fry or damage it.

Hi
I need to upgrade pretty quickly for a live show next week (my own stupid fault!) so don't have time to order online and wait for the delivery then install, then practise... etc etc. I THINK I have found a local shop to sell me what I want, could somebody let me know whether this RAM will wok or not?
