Looping a sample in ONE SHOT MODE??

Hello

I perform live with my MPC 1000, while doing other stuff like playing drums and effecting the samples with guitar pedals and stuff... I'm not using the sequence side of the mpc at all, it is a live sample triggering device for me. I need to be able to set a loop off and not worry about it while i do other stuff. So it needs to loop! Why can't i get it to loop in oner shot mode? I can't keep pressure on it, i can only hit the pads breifely while i'm playing!? There must be a way right? My JJ OS3 manual does not contain this info....

I'm not 100% sure about this, but there's a glitch, so if you press a pad + the NUMERIC button the sample will loop, or the note will hold. Note that for this to work, the cursor must be in a filed where the numeric button is active.
To switch it off press the same button and numeric.
Don't quote me on this, as I'm not too sure, it works for me but I'm on JJos. There a thread about this in the MPC 1000 JJos section of the forum.

hey thanks man, but no joy.. or rather... where is this zone where the numeric button is active? are we talking trim mode?

Hey bro. He means you have to press it when the cursor is on a numerical field.

But you can't have it in one-shot mode, even though you would think it should be, you gotta put the pad on note-on. It seems like pushing the numeric button fools the MPC into thinking you are still holding the pad down, when you aren't. So:

* Make sure your sample is set to loop (in the trim screen),
* Put the pad on note-on,
* Then on main screen make sure you leave the cursor on any numerical field such as bpm, sequence number, bar number etc... (i usually use bpm its easiest and doesnt bring up a window when you push it),
* Now push the pad, leave your finger on it while you click the numeric button,
* Let go of the pad, then you can click numeric button again to stop it flashing and to stop yourself messing with the numbers when you push another pad,
* The sample will now loop until you hit the same pad again

That is how I do it and it does work, its a stupid fiddly way of doing things but I've looked around these forums for a way to loop one-shot and doesn't look like you can do it on the 1000. I only have the free JJOS so maybe you can do it with the other ones I'm not sure.

Oh yeah and you don't have to push the numeric button again to stop the sample, just hit the pad. And I'm pretty sure you can use this trick to loop multiple pads at once or introduce new loops without turning off the first ones, haven't got my MPC in front of me so not 100% on that but I think the loop only stops if you hit the same pad again.

Yo if anybody reading this knows of a proper way to loop one-shots or if its possible with the other JJOS versions can you post it up this is something I've been wanting to do for a while too and I know other peope have brought it up in the past.. Until then the numeric glitch does the trick

thanks very much Cam gonna try it out today... by the way though isn't it stupid that it's not a registered function? I managed to get it going with out the numeric in JJOS 2 but it would fade out on the second repeat... hmm..

Damn... that does work, in that moment in time, but i need this function to work throughout a performance, there and then and with 50% of the pads.... what a nightmare... I'm playing drums and only have split seconds to trigger the pads... there has to be way no?!!!!!!!

Why wouldn't it work during a performance? R u drumming with the pads or actually drumming? I still haven't tried it out since I posted earlier on but can you use multiple pads at once? It is stupid that it isn't a regular function I have seen people doing it on a 2000

yea I'm playing an acoustic drum kit and triggering off sections from my songs, so if for some reason i forget to trigger the section again or the next section all mpc sound stops and i'm left with my lonesome acoustic drums... if i had them on one shot loop this wouldn't happen. I have time in between a snare and a kick to trigger the MPC with my left harn, not to also go navigating and pressing numeric buttons...
