Maybe he had to cut out features to incorporate other features cause he ran outta room in the os.

He said that before didn't he?!?!

Pattern mode is fun. It's another reason that I stay with OS2.

Splash screen doesnt take up much space at all.

Lamp, you're close... It's the processor that's limiting the OS. There's more code space made in the internal flash rom since OS2 was developed. The CPU can't handle too many instructions without crashing or lagging.

Why isn't the pong game cut out? Who is using it anyway?

Man, I understand what everyone is saying. But, at the end of the day I dont care what he had to cut. Just as long as Im not stuck with Akai's os as an only option (lol)!!! I know somebody feels me!!!!

I know what you're saying mate! Anyone whe defends the Akai os hasn't got a **** clue!!!

If I pushed my 2kxl hard it would crash without any hesitation, but I now have the luxury of being able to track out, coupled with a fantastic os to go along with it. Let's not get too complacent eh...

A noob's point of view here.
I only managed to get the hang of pattern mode on JJOS2XL this weekend and I loved the way it worked, I was just selecting the pad and creating patterns visually, like I did on Fruityloops but using my hands instead of the mouse, for me it worked like a breeze for drums, my only complain is that it is not ideal for non-drum patterns.
AND it did crash on my a few times!

The way I got there was mode+pad 15; Shift>view. (just to be sure we're talking about the same feature)

One extra feature I would love (apart from more effects, like a proper distortion), is to be able to edit the pitch for each step, so I could program synth-lines faster instead of programming note by note.

emailed JJ - he said

'Since OS2XL differs in OS2 and specification, as for the addition of "TUNE" and "CHOP", a program becomes complicated.
Therefore, since a bug occurs, there are not "TUNE" and "CHOP" in OS2XL.'

Shame - there's lots of nice things in OS2XL - but for me they aren't worth the trade off for pattern...
so - will stick with OS2.

mmmh and ad instead a midi out...

yeah agreed - tune was useful ... chop not so important as you can use it manually.
he didn't mention filter though... that was useful too.

Pattern Mode would be more useful if you could use the pattern you create in Areggiator Mode.
Right now there is not very much going on in arpegiator, but if you could use your own pattern, that would be awesome.

Combine 2 half-finished Features (no one uses right now) to get one new useful one ;)
