I recently purchased a 2000 classic from ebay. The seller indidcated it was in perfect working condition however when i recieved it the unit wasnt working. There is no damamge to the box so I dont think it was damaged in shipping but who knows. Heres the issue the unit will power on and load the os. It brings up the sequence screen but none of the buttons work, the pad bank buttons light is not on. noe of the bettuns or pads work the screen doesnt move when i press the buttons. Has anyone ever had this issue? could a cable or something been knocked loose in shipping? I dont wanna really open it cause i dont know what the hell im doing. The seller on ebay is trying to fight it saying it worked before it shipped. Any suggestions would be good.
Thanks

Yep, there is one cable that connects the entire upper section with all the pads, buttons, etc. to the main PCB. That connector has locking clips on it but it sure sounds like yours has come unlocked.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine a couple months ago, and it was a loose mainboard connection. Definitely check that.

I actually took the mpc to a repair shop before i made this post. The tech said buttons & pads not working due to problems on main PCB board due to prior faulty work. they're estimate is 368.52. If the main PCB board was bad would it do this?
I'm kinda skeptical. I'm going to pick it up this afternoon and will see if its just the cable? where would i look to see if the cable has been disconnected?

You shouldn't have given it to a repair shop without at least opening up the case... you are now at their mercy!

It would be easy for them to create that fault, even if it was just a loose ribbon cable...

Good luck mate...

So I picked the unit up from the shop yesterday and it works perfect. guess it was just the cable
