XFade

Hey everybody!

Cause the X-Fade-Mode in JJ os takes so much of the voice-capacity i want to x-fade the samples on the pc (i use dsp quattro x and wavelab) and then move them back on the mpc, with loop-setting set to normal.

I allready found quite good loop-points for the crossfade in jj os, but now, when i use the same points to crossfade in my audio-software i get a completely different sounding result.
Which settings in wavelab (or dsp quattro) fit best to get a similar fade?

p.s. it would be a nice new feature in jj os if there were an Crossfade-Feature in the Edit-Menu of Trim-Screen which allows a "destructive" xfade (the fade is safed in the sample, not calculated "live") to safe Voice-capacity.

yes i would find destructive xfade and descructive altloop helpful, for creative and practical purposes.

the workaround in the mpc is to resample the main outs, but an edit page option would be much more convenient

yeah, but if you resample you got the problem that you have to find the loop-points again...
A destructive crossfade loop would be awesome

Recycle is tight for X-Fades also

but crossfading isn't that big a deal, i'm shure there is a way to get it done in wavelab...but the wavelab-xfade sounds a lot different from the mpc-xfade...

ok, i wrote JJ and he/she/they replied (short but accurate) "Loop size = fade time"

so i think it's not possible to recreate this XFade with a conventional Crossfade-Loop-Feature in Wavelab or DSP Quattro, cause their fade time is limited to about 150 msec maximum.

If JJ would come up with an Edit -> XFade Feature in Trim mode to create a destructive Crossfade that would be really nice.

X-Fade is just a Sample-Edit-Loop-Feature - why did it take voice-capacity? I got JJOS2XL and the X-Fade-Feature is in Trim-Mode

this is because xfade is eating lots of cpu cycles , and that translates in eating poliphony voices at breakfast...

Hmm...I don´t get it If you got your perfect X-Fade, you press "Do IT"and a new Sample was born and the CPU free for other things. I will try it this evening - maybe I´ll get it then

only problem is there is no "Do it"-Button




i faded my samples with "DSP Quattro" now, just set the highest fadetime possible and the results are really ok. it doesn't sound exactly like it sounded on the mpc, but still good.
Just don't mess with the loop-points, otherways you can start from scratch again.

Good thing about fading with the pc is you can also xfade really short loops, the mpc won't do that. (4-5 ms fading time will get rid of annoying clicking)

AAHHHHhhhh...now I get it - sorry! That have to be a MUST for the next JJOS-Update. Shouldn´t be a big thing, I think!

BUT if you find your needed X-Fade-Position and you don´t need the stuff before and behind the X-Fade, you could cut it out as a new sample, so it takes no longer an effect on the voice-capacity. Or does it not take the X-fade with it, when you cut it out?
