One thing that has always bugged me is how when a sequence is playing in "step edit" mode, I can't edit any of the note settings, volume, duration, location on grid, etc. I would love to be able to listen to the sequence and for example, if I want to shift a few notes and adjust the velocity, I could just use the arrows to get to the note and parameter that I want to change and just do it without having to stop the sequencer. As it is now, once you hit play in step edit mode the cursor automatically goes up to the top and wont let you access the recorded notes below and your view of the notes changes according to where you're at in the sequence as it plays. I think it's a bit useless and redundant to have the very top of the screen display exactly where you're at in the sequence and then have the view of the notes below track the sequence as it goes along. I would prefer if the very top of the screen displayed where you're at in the sequence and what events you want to see and if the notes below didnt move along with the sequence so that you could use the arrows to get to the note and parameter you would like to edit and be able to do so all while the sequence is playing so that you can hear your changes as you make them and not have to hit stop and play over and over to hear the changes. Please some one tell me that there is a way to change the setting in "step edit" mode so that you can move freely within the recorded notes and event parameters and make your changes all while the sequence plays. I have always noticed this but continue to work around the problem and always forget to ask if there is a way around this, it has been like a little thorn in my side that I forget to ask about while I'm posting but always remember as I'm working on editing a sequence. I have a Motif ES that I use to sequence with before I got my 1K and I was able to just let the sequence loop over and over while I moved around in "step edit" mode. I was able to work alot faster this way and was able to just focus on how everything sounded as I edited it without having to press stop and play in between editing and listening. I don't know, maybe it's just me and nobody else cares but it's a pain for me and I finally remembered to ask about it. So does anybody know how I can do this in OS2XL (or any OS, I'm pretty sure step edit has worked pretty much the same in all of them when it comes to this) or is this worthy or a bug report / feature request? It would be nice to be able to be in "step edit" mode while a sequence is playing and not have the recorded notes follow the sequence, you could then press SHIFT then the down arrow which would move the cursor from the top line of the display (which shows the location in the sequence) down to the recorded notes area so that you could move around and edit freely then you could simply press SHIFT plus the up arrow to get you back to that top line of the display so that you could change the events you want to see (sort of how "trim" mode works when you move up and down between the sample name/"chop" line and the "start"/"end" line), all without having to press STOP. What do you guys think?
