MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I have noticed that whenever I save as "All programs and samples" the MPC5000 saves all programs but it does not save all samples it only saves some of the samples. How can this be?

I am not sure I understand the concept. Same thing seems to happen when you save entire memory, there are always some samples that do not get saved.

CAn somebody explain if this is a bug or just the way it is for a particular reason?

The only way to save all the samples in the program is when I do "Save programs with samples".

thanks.

^^^ You weren't very specific about how you performed the 'Save all programs and Samples', there are a few different options around replacing files which already exist etc...

When you're selecting 'Save all programs and samples', after you press F6 <DO IT> change the 'Make new folder:' parameter to 'YES'

If you select NO, the 'Replace same files' field will be displayed.
If the destination folder already has the file with the same name, select NO to cancel the operation and select YES to replace the file with the new data.

When you select YES at the 'Make new Folder' the 'Replace same files' field changes to 'New Folder:'
Enter the folder name in this field. This is where ALL your programs and samples will be stored.

So, the sequence I would normally carry out is: -

MODE then 'PAD 3'
F2 <SAVE>
Then browse to destination you want to save data to CF Card, HARD DRIVE, etc.

Change 'type:' field to 'SAVE ALL PROGRAMS AND SAMPLES'
F6 <DO IT>

Change 'Make new folder:' field to 'YES'
Up arrow to 'New Folder:' and edit your required folder name.

F3 <DO IT>

After save completes, go check out the folder you just created.

what about the other 2 percent?

The 98% successful saves is when I save to the hard drive. So technically when saving to the hard drive I had never had any problems. Also it's much faster saving and loading data on the hard drive

The 2% failure is when I save and load data on the Compact flash card. I might need a new card.

Also I notice it's not good to use the mpc5k to format the cf card. I once formated the cf card on the mpc5k and after that I couldn't copy data to my computer or edit data on the cf card through usb connection. Windows would not allow it.

I had to pull the card from the mpc5k and format the card again on the pc with the volume label cleared of the MPC5000 name. Then I was able to copy and edit the data from the cf card to the pc. So no more cf card formating for me.
