I think something is wrong with my MPC 2000XL!!!

I think something is wrong with my MPC 2000XL . It's linked up to my Fantom XA Thru MIDI, And every time I hit a pad on it the sounds that I trigger on my fantom continuously play uninterrupted. Until I disconnect my MPC or I turn it off.
Somebody please help.

What MIDI cables are you putting where and what are your settings in the Fantom? You're not saying you used the MIDI Thru port are you?

Also to add if you're cable connects are correct.

mpc midi out into fantom midi in
fantom midi out into mpc midi in

Check that the phantom in not in OMNI mode but in Multimbral mode.
Double check midi channel assignments on both units. My 2 cents.
