Question

okay i have some beats made on zip i have a MPCXL now what format do i save them to be able to take that zip wit me somewhere else and play the songs out like if i make a beat at my house and i wanna bring that zip to your house what do i need to do to be able to play the songs out ?

it depends on what is available at the other house. if there's another mpc, you need the .pgm file (with sounds) and the .mid files.

if you're talking about to play on your friends cd player, you're going to need to play the beat on the mpc and record the audio, which you can then burn to a cd.

yeah he has a mpc now i already have my beats saved to .midi what else should i do

save the .pgm file so you have the sounds and how they are laid out.

so you'll have a disk with a .pgm file, a few .mid files, and a bunch of .snd files.

then you go to your friends house, load the .pgm file, and load your sequences (.mids), and press play.

Edit: that is, as long as you guys both have the same mpc. between diferent ones is something i am not qualified to speak on.

This is how I do it:

Save ALL PROGRAMS AND SOUNDS = .APS
Save ALL SEQUENCES AND SONGS = .ALL

This way you only need to save two files.. And I usually give both of the files a similar name - like "Sounds #1" for .APS and "Beats #1" for .ALL - so that they are easy to find when you need to load them.

So if i do that i can play my beats on anyones MPC
