Whats up yall. This is ya man jSoul broadcasting from CO. I used to post here a year or so back under the moniker TheHypeArchetype. Somehow, my account got all f____ up, so i here i am. Back, and under a new name.

What up to all those who remember my brief stint on the forums, and a big YO! to all the new faces. I'm here to help, and like to think i'm somewhat knowledgeable on the topic of the 2000XL. So any questions i feel i can give valueable input, i will be sure to do so.

At the same time, we all remain students, and i personally have a lot to learn. Namely, maf__kin' step edit!

So anyway, all my 2kXL users out there: How long have you been creating music w/the MPC and how would you desribe your style? I've been at it for about 5 years now, and would basically describe my style as.... uh.... Boom Bap Jazz Music? I don't know... hahaha.......

2 Years I been makin music... Since January on the MPC...

My style... None really... Thats why my production name is Esoge (S.O.G. or Shades of Grey)... Basically I don't see things in Black or White just Shades of Grey... Can't define my style as Boom Bap, Neo-Soul, Raw Underground, or Whatever... I'm sorta in between cause I dabble in a little of everything...

Underground is the only way I define my style...

Word.

If i had to sum it up, it would be what i said. Only because everything i do is influenced by soul music... jazz music. That may seem limiting to some, but it's what i feel. It's what i grew up on and it's what moves me. With that being said, though.... i still manage to mantain a broad spectrum. Jazz means so many things. Basically anything thats undeniably expressive and retains some element of soul and improvisation, i consider "jazz".... that may not be the technical term... but hey.

I feel you man.. I'm influenced by Psychadelic Rock, but at the same time I got Jazz in me because my grandparents have always loved Jazz...

Sh*t... My Dad's named after Stan Kenton... That was my grandfather's favorite Jazz Band Leader...

Good man!

My pops has two dogs... one named Elvin and one named Hank... after Elvin Jones and Hank Mobley.

My last name is Davis. I have a two year old daughter, and had she been a boy there's no question that his name would have been Miles.

It's good to be back though. I've been browsing the forums for months now, unable to log on.... like "Oh shit! I can help you" or "How do i....?" finally i just broke down and made a new account.

Welcome.... back!

I've been playing and making music since i was twelve, I think. I'm 21 now. Got the XL last december.

I can only describe my style of music as good music! Whether I'm laying down a 2 bar boom bap or playing live improvisation sets, it doesn't matter..

Oh and the biggest influence for me is myself!

Peace-
